I mean, while I agree this process is *obtuse*. Most people don't have the time to learn how it all works. This statement is more a condemnation of how complicated our election process is than anything else.

Our system, while complicated, isn't that much *more* complicated than, say, a "leadership election" in the UK, and to the extent it's complicated has become so because of attempts to make it more "democratic"
