It's never one dramatic thing that instantly kills off humanity It's just a series of tests we fail one after another, with each one making the consequences of the last worse Every failed system exposes the flaws and weaknesses of all the others

Thank you for this. I'm not trying to put words in your mouth, but a thing I hope people start to take away from this is that distributed models of government like anarchism, communism, etc. aren't just ideological differences, but technologies for surpassing human limitation
-
Theoretically our current democracy has human cognitive limitation failsafes in the form of """checks and balances""", but we've all seen how that works out. We should be treating every politician like an AI in the Bungie universe that will necessarily eventually go rampant

I hate to be the cheerleader for guarded optimism, because I'm not, but do you think that this is worse than the six years of WWI and the flu epidemic that killed maybe 100 million people? Followed by, dig it, Warren Harding, who could teach Cheeto a thing or two about dumbth?

Empires have fallen and civilizations have been thrown into dark ages before; humans still manage to survive. I don't think one thing (short of global thermonuclear war) will end humanity - maybe just the way we experience humanity right now.
