The narrative is that if you left trans adolescents alone they would grow up to be gay men and lesbians. The numbers show that narrative is total trash.

Evidence please. (self-selecting lobby group advertised polls are not persuasive evidence, btw)

Okay well it's the only evidence we have about the sexuality of trans people as a demographic, as opposed to your obnoxious just-so statements that "feminine boys grow up to be gay"

The evidence is coming from detransitioners who quit taking cross-sex hormones and settle back into happy, homosexual relationships. They all tell of the social pressure to transition, from homophobic parents and peers.

Detransitioners are not evidence that people shouldn't transition, just as "abortion regret" is not a good reason to ban abortion. People make choices - sometimes they regret them. We still let them make their own choices.

It's evidence against rapid affirmation only. You know perfectly well that trans activists are intent on labelling any alternative 'conversion therapy', and if everyone listens to them we are going to see many more detransitioners and, ultimately, lawsuits.

"Trans activists" don't have anywhere near the power you imply they do in this tweet.

I'd like to point out that once again we are very closely recapitulating history and the 90s was filled with right-wing predictions we'd see "waves" of people "fleeing the gay lifestyle" after being "recruited into it" and suing all the counselors who "enabled the AIDS epidemic"

It's amazing and in its own way a curse how short people's memories are People act like it took so long to pass same sex marriage because we just got busy and never got around to it, not that it was a mainstream and accepted opinion that "homosexuality is a public health crisis"

This endless repetition of the 'history repeating itself' talking point is so stupid Can't you concieve of anything new happening, or any new ideas being fought over? Everything is cast as the same manichean argument, and you utterly fail to see what the debate is really about

Yes, I can, which is why I support trans people and am trying to learn what I can as a cis person from them You guys are the ones who insist on repeating history

Seriously, nearly every anti-trans argument is the same thing they said about gay people. Converting them to the lifestyle! Corrupting our children! They're just misguided! It goes against nature! Can't let them in locker rooms bc they're all predators!

So why is transitioning so popular in Iran? Why does it have the full support of people who would hang homosexuals from cranes?
