This was exactly why I hated his plan, it was so evident if you think about it even for a second that it would be ineffective. Also that no one took him to task for this or his "moral" reasoning.

It was a very peculiar mix of "this is obviously terrible so we don't need to waste runtime pointing that out" and "he's the protagonist of the film, we shoudn't undercut his journey"
