I am seriously considering doing a video essay takedown of JJ Abrams wrt Star Wars. Only problem: I'll have to rewatch ALIAS. or rather finish, I dropped after S3 IIRC.

Wow, that was good. I had skipped it bc it had been described as "police procedural with some social commentary on surveillance" but that was some Matrix going on

Yes yes yes! It is so good. It is procedural but in such a well done way and the characters... all of them, are amazing! And the story is really about hope the good will prevail. And the soundtrack is amazing and i get goosbumps and butterflies from the badass scenes and and and

It is interesting that JJ was involved - plainly other people had a bigger hand, but you could also see it as JJ with a bit of a chill pill? Like it sets up some intriguing mysteries and I'm slightly spoiled as to where they go BUT they could be more or less what they appear

FYI the original creator is Jonathan Nolan (Christopher Nolan's brother)

Also, for the faceblind, Root is Amy Acker (Fred from Angel and Dr. Saunders/Whiskey from Dollhouse)

And I see from her credits on IMDB that she gets hit with the not-actually-just-playing-one-normal-human stick again

I bet Christopher Nolan never gets introduced as “Jonathan Nolan’s brother”.

As they say, in Hollywood aspiring to be a writer rather than a director is like wanting to grow up to be a copilot

Nolan's work on "Person of Interest" is why I'm cutting him a lot of slack on "Westworld," I'm trusting he's taking this to a more-interesting place than we're expecting.
