Blood donation centers are not testing blood for COVID-19 They don't have a test and it isn't transmissible by blood so they have no need for it

They might also do a finger stick to run a quick test on a droplet. That is NOT a COVID-19 test! They're checking if you're anemic because it's not a good idea for anemic people to lose blood.

Yeah it's impossible to test for any disease with one drop of blood and by creating the impression that this science fiction stuff is plausible Theranos has probably done lasting harm to public health

Also, even if they did, it can take quite a while for blood tests to come back from donations as they batch test for prelim screening then in the event of a hit, they test small samples of everyone's blood. It's not an instant process.
