In most states, Bernie will not be eligible as a write-in candidate, which means that this will mean your vote will be thrown out as though you left it blank and it will not be recorded anywhere, achieving the same result as if you stayed homehttps://twitter.com/gabrielwinant/status/1237570746026577921 …

Wait a minute. If you write in an ineligible candidate your entire ballot gets discarded, including your votes for local races and citizen initiatives?

No, it's just an invalid vote, it's like you left that item on the ballot blank (or "spoiled" it otherwise, like if you marked two bubbles for the same question)

Well that's a bit of a relief. I was worried that telling people to write in Bernie would harm progressive candidates in down-ballot races

Writing in Bernie is a waste of the ink on your pen writing it in because no one will read it I mean this has nothing to do with being "anti-spoiler", if you want to be a spoiler you should vote for Howie Hawkins and then it'll show up in the newspaper
