What gets me about people calling public health "socialism" is countries like SK aren't even close to socialist South Korea is capitalist AS FUCK, nor committed to capitalism than we are in some ways (watch Parasite), the chaebol are peak capitalism They're just not *stupid*https://twitter.com/HKrassenstein/status/1237551435086065664 …

I think there is. I just don't think it's so deep that it means one isn't socialism.

I mean, there's a huge difference between left anarchists and Stalinists too but they're still socialist. And the difference between Bernie Sanders (who calls himself a democratic socialist but has policies like a social democrat) and someone like Bernstein isn't that big.

I.e. starting from the "liberal" position that the moral and constitutional order of government is based on "whatever the people decide is ok" but believing that they *should* decide based on general social welfare
-
Vs. starting from the actual "socialist" POV - "morally and constitutionally, all the means of production in society are owned by society in common" - and then saying "but the best way for society to decide what to do with it is through liberal democratic norms"
