I get the mentality. For a lot of people it doesnt matter who the nominee is, the opposition is a lunatic fascist any candidate the democrats put out will do.

There's certainly not much else to account for how sudden and dramatic the swing was. not much the explains Biden's extreme weakness in the first few contests compared to SC and onward. Demographics alone don't account for it, since he's now winning all demographics.

my theory is slightly different. when bernie was winning, people starting jumping on the bandwagon, but as it continued and party leaders voiced their concern voters backed away. since biden was the only person black people liked they chose him and moderates followed.

I think this is so, and the surprise was realizing I'm kind of there myself. I grew up in very progressive circles, and I think the blind spot for some right now is not realizing that the other team has the ball, and what we need is a good defense.
