This is one of those rules the Church has that makes it convenient for them to say things like this (it's also obviously impossible for this reason to do any tests on holy relics for authenticity or to confirm their miraculous properties)

well some of the sugars making up the wafer would surely contribute to the composition of the biofilm coating a child's teeth which would eventually (assuming proper dental hygiene) get brushed away and become part of the fluoride goo that gets spat down a bathroom drain
