This may be hard to believe but the TROS book is actually making the movie worse by driving home just how thoroughly embarrassing this story is. The book is filling in plot holes I didn't even know about.

Did you know? In order to fix Kylo Ren's helmet they had to scour the wreckage of that big star destroyer that Laura Dern blew up in the last movie, and gather up all those little pieces that he had left in that elevator.

Canonically this entire story takes place over 16 hours but even the story itself doesn't buy it. At one point in the book Rey is like "how long has it been since I last slept?" Like bro the last time you slept was last night

I get why she would be tired obviously. She did lots of fighting and a physically impossible amount of traveling and shit. But the choice of wording is funny because it's like even the author forgot about the ticking clock

Later on we have General Richard E Grant musing about how the sith workers will have to pull triple shifts to finish building the fleet but there couldn't possibly be more than a couple hours left before they launch? Plus, a triple shift is 50 percent longer than this story?

According to the book, Dominic Monaghan's character, Beaumont, is Rey's very close friend who is an expert in Sith lore. But I can't remember any lines he had in the movie.

There's a part in the book where Rey takes a nap

I'm perplexed by this note about how the two women who kiss at the end don't normally do PDA. It's a weird detail to use to introduce them as a couple. Is this some kind of awkward response to criticism?pic.twitter.com/gdatLjo2l6

Contrast this with Klaud the random alien on the Falcon at the beginning who disappears for the rest of the movie, who gets like a whole half page detailing why he's there. But Tyce and D'Acy are just The Gays Who Don't Normally Do PDA

I have been reading this book for two days because every time I find one of these weird details I spend a fucking hour breaking it down
