There's a part in the book where Rey takes a nap

I'm perplexed by this note about how the two women who kiss at the end don't normally do PDA. It's a weird detail to use to introduce them as a couple. Is this some kind of awkward response to criticism?pic.twitter.com/gdatLjo2l6

Contrast this with Klaud the random alien on the Falcon at the beginning who disappears for the rest of the movie, who gets like a whole half page detailing why he's there. But Tyce and D'Acy are just The Gays Who Don't Normally Do PDA

I have been reading this book for two days because every time I find one of these weird details I spend a fucking hour breaking it down

So the book says that after Ghost Luke pulled his x-wing out of the ocean Rey had to like scavenge parts from the island to fix it up and get it flight-worthy. There is just no fucking way all this happened in less than 16 hours.

That one star destroyer that blew up a planet flew BACK to Exegol and reentered the atmosphere to trap itself with the rest of the fleet until they could all leave together.pic.twitter.com/JGHAkSvCrq

Sith ship Captain pov: "the fleet was a beautiful sight to behold. Together, they were going to conquer a galaxy." Excuse me? Do you mean the galaxy that the First Order already conquered? Why do you need to conquer it again?

(this is really the dumbest big picture thing in TROS. After TLJ the war is already over and the First Order won so escalating in this way is just bizarre) Only 40 more pages

WOW THIS BOOK TRIES TO RETCON RETURN OF THE JEDI IN A WAY THAT I'M GOING TO HAVE TO FUCKING MEDITATE FOR HOURS ABOUT TO TRY TO FULLY UNDERSTAND

I don't wanna tweet much about this bit yet until I figure out the ramifications but the gist is that the Emperor was trying to do to Luke what he was trying to do to Rey in this movie which is just a shockingly stupid thing to consider

I don't see this as a retcon though, like it sucks but this is absolutely the implication in the movie and the whole reason they made this a thing in the movie

It's not a retcon of TROS the movie by TROS the novelization, I mean, it's obviously a retcon of RotJ

Well the book takes a lot of things the movie vaguely implies but leaves kinda open to interpretation and then makes them text. And in this instance it specifically states that Darth Vader was not supposed to prevent Luke from killing the emperor
