He's not even right by his own terms, the mortality rate is heavily dependent on what treatment the seriously sick get, and the whole reason to quarantine to slow the spread of the disease is to not overwhelm the medical system with everyone getting sick at oncehttps://twitter.com/rationalsquad/status/1235636443369873415 …

Rick Santelli on @CNBC just made the argument that we'd be better off if everyone got the #coronavirus right away and 2% of the world died off, so that financial markets could stabilize. Rick likes Republicans, don't be like Rick. This should go viral. #VoteBlueToSaveAmerica pic.twitter.com/1orGoG6cWO

If no one did anything to stop the virus spreading MORE PEOPLE WOULD DIE, and among the people who got sick but lived their sickness would last longer and have worse consequences This is childish contrarianism no serious person should spend any time on

Asshole conservatives love to say shit about just "peeling the bandaid off" because they never bothered to ask why the bandaid is on And I know who he got this take from too, it was Robin Hansonhttps://mobile.twitter.com/robinhanson/status/1228400896507367424 …

Though it is a disturbing & extreme option, we should seriously consider deliberately infecting folks with coronavirus, to spread out the number of critically ill people over time, and to ensure that critical infrastructure remains available to help sick. http://www.overcomingbias.com/2020/02/consider-controlled-infection.html …

Best guess on what the mortality rate would be in that instance? I assume something like 10% not only that but I also assume this would affect the USA exports since as it risks the virus spreading.

The lack of medical knowledge shows, the assumption that infection would give people immunity (when there is 0 proof of that) instead of just causing a debilitated imune system an easy target for any further reinfection which likely is happening with at least one documented case

I have a lot of doubts it would work out well for the economy either. Like there's incredible knock on effects from his proposal (like a huge drop in demand for products and services primarily used by the elderly for reasons of being dead, lots of workers sick simultaneously, etc)
