well, midichlorians have been likened to mitochondria, something that a mostly-synthetic life-form would be short on, but after coming from a "completely organic" mother, would then be active with his genes? idk

I always thought midichlorians are not actually the source of Force powers, just indicators of it. Sort of like higher blood sugar can be indicator of diabetes or high fat content in blood can be indicator of obesity. They are the result, not the source.
