    Arthur Chu Retweeted Screen Rant

It's honestly not that unusual for a movie novelization to add stuff or change stuff from the movie, often because they have access to the original shooting script It's just that Screen Rant has chosen to take snippets from the book and release them tweet by tweet as clickbaithttps://twitter.com/screenrant/status/1235373107692503040 …

Curse them for depending on the (admittedly accurate) idea that most of us won't be reading the novelisation of the movie!pic.twitter.com/dmdD7r0Qeu

It's not unusual, but for a film to omit so much important backstory feels very lazy. And what was deemed worth including in the film VS what wasn't feels very unbalanced. A film should stand on its own and not rely on a book to fill in the plot holes and gaps.

Nothing says filling a plot hole quite like *checks notes* adding content to pad pagelength in ways that only raise further questions

Even if this was part of the script I don't think JJ had any inclination to act as if this detail mattered, but it's kinda wild and TERRIFYING how the Disney machine can generate news for already released and forgettable content with "kid in IM helmet was spiderman" trivia drops.

But Disney isn't doing this. News sites are.

Usually it follows pretty close, but usually there aren't huge gaps in the information.

Sometimes they diverge a lot though, the Men in Black 2 novel had a completely different ending IIRC.
