There's a user-end problem here: someone who is shaking hands with assholes and telling white lies to sneak through progressive policy is not observationally distinguishable from an actual status quo politician. That's the whole point of the deception.

In terms of who to vote for, this means the suggested strategy is "vote for the milquetoast centrist and hope this one happens to not really mean it", the problem with which is fairly obvious. I'm not averse to the idea in principle, but there are practical barriers here.
