You are overruling the will of the plurality. The majority decided to give their votes to somebody else, and that somebody will have an impact on the election, so you aren't really overruling their will. That's kinda like representative democracy, but applied to an election.

FPTP plurality-wins is regarded by almost everyone who seriously studies elections as a horrible way to run elections Nobody actually designs a system that way on purpose, it just ends up happening because people don't anticipate elections with more than two parties
