Fun story time: I was raised by preppers! When we lived in Miami, they spent thousands to get ready for Hurricane Andrew. Water barrels, food supply, guns, ammo, heavy hurricane shutters sunk into the concrete block house with 8" masonry bolts.https://twitter.com/korvalas/status/1233422092768550912 …

Guess what? The storm sucked the shutters right off & gutted the house, just like it did to all our totally un-prepared neighbors. The gangs of looters we were promised? Never arrived. Then we used up most of our fuel supply to make 1 pot of beans.

Emergencies never go down the way prepper vendors tell you it will. And that OP wasn't "another person choosing to prepare differently." It was an advertisement. You're the one who's upset here- about someone pointing out that advertising makes for bad real-life advice. Weird.

I actually lived through the kind of apocalypse scenario that these ads are trying to get you to fantasize about. So I know from real life that the kinds of "preparations" they're pushing- BUY MY STUFF- doesn't really help. That's all I'm saying here. That shouldn't upset you.

Disaster capitalists aren't trying to help you. They don't even know who you are & frankly, they don't care. They DO care about replacing cheap & effective solutions (wash hands, avoid unnecessary contact) with their fake-ass expensive solutions (BUY STUFF).

And to close it off, again, it's really interesting that your main complaint isn't the misinformation, but how you think I'm "upset." Nah lad I'm just pointing out problems with disaster capitalism. That's the rational thing to do here. YOU'RE upset. Don't get it confused.

I'm upset? Yeah ok...I'm not the one with the cascade of rants about how others choose to spend their money.

Anyone who does this trick of turning criticism of someone SELLING something into criticism of the people BUYING it ("Who are you to call these hardworking Americans gullible victims?") is in on the grift
