That's how it's supposed to work That is, in fact, democratic It means that enough people voted for the other candidates that those other candidates have the right to demand concessions from the leader

It is, in fact, a problem for the concept of democracy that a naive democratic process says if I get 51% and you get 49% I get to say "Fuck you bend the knee" It's *much more* of a problem if I get to demand people bend the knee with 34%

And the fact that the official Bernie position is this hypocritical rejection of the very idea that he should need to get a majority feels like a huge red flag to me.

I was fine w/ everything as normal primary jousting but after reading the campaign PR person talk of stolen elections, & Naomi Klein (who I revere) say it’s not Democratic, I became alarmed that they are stoking people to upend the convention. It’s irresponsible.

I’m ready to forget it if it stops soon. The Bernie people have been under attack this week but freaking out is not a good look for them. & it’s also really bad politics. If you react this way, you’re being played and you’re falling into a trap of your own making.

I think the key word is always "probably." Or perhaps "clear" as in "a clear plurality." What that constitutes is definitely debatable but it seems like it should be common sense that 46% should definitely get it over 36% but not necessarily over 45%.

Maybe? It kinda depends. Imagine we've got two candidates: Candidate A gets 46% Candidate B gets 36% Neither one wins on the first ballot, and they need to haggle and compromise with the remaining 28% (and maybe each other) to somehow get a majority.
