So fcking angry that Rey didn't get a double bladed saber HER CRYSTAL. AT THE END OF THE LAST MOVIE. WAS SPLIT. IN HALF. LIKE A DOUBLE BLADED SABER. WOULD USE.

And she ALWAYS USED A FCKING STAFF. IT WAS FORESHADOWED. A LOT

There was obviously a moral choice coming up between keeping both crystals and making it into a saberstaff (Dark Rey) or splitting the crystals into two separate lightsabers and giving the other to Ben

This was the actual reason for the two blue lightsabers before the absurd "Leia's saber" retcon

I mean, I still want to point out that nothing in the existing films, even the one that came out, implied Ben was morally obliged to stop using his crossguard saber.

Given the new explanation for crystal colour, if Ben was redeemed would part of that be fixing his crystal?

That would be how I would have written it. But if the narrative didn't have time for that, he could keep using the red saber. To movie viewers, the colors are just symbolic of general allegiance - Ben using a TIE didn't make him evil, neither would continuing to use the saber

Right, those two images directly contradict each other - on the one hand he has to ditch the red saber for a blue one (that we've never seen before) to be a good guy On the other hand he shows up in a TIE Fighter that lands next to the Red 5 X-Wing

They sort of went with the idea of the good guys and bad guys from the Original Trilogy joining up to fight the real enemy and sort of didn't

And yes, it is kind of a badass moment that Ben arrives in a disposable unshielded craft that's been sitting in wreckage for 30 years If it didn't make us think about how TIE Fighters aren't supposed to have hyperdrive at all
