Seriously pundits get really upset about how "nobody votes in primaries" but the participation rate in our primary elections is absurdly high compared to "party leadership contests" in other systems

Some of our parties don't even let ordinary people vote in leadership selections- the one that took a week was literally just their caucus voting, so a lot more like choosing a Speaker, majority, or minority leader. And that person became PM (head of government) too, lol.
