this is like the time in middle school I told somebody that there would be repercussions for doing something and they ran to a teacher and said I threatened to give them concussions https://twitter.com/ghostctc/status/1232139900755021824 …

I'm still somewhat mad about how that movie was bad despite obviously having the blueprint of a much better movie inside it. Feels like some higher-up decided the script was too abrasive and too queer and ham-handedly toned down and no-homo'd it. Alas, I have no proof of this.

It's kind of the opposite, the brides were originally much younger and it was pitched as a "teen comedy" (with Emma Roberts and Nikki Reed) and they aged up the brides to late 20s so they could go raunchier and edgier

THAT bland bowl of cream of wheat was the EDGIER version? They actually planned the scene of the two brides tearing at each other's gowns in a fight with no sapphic intention? GDI why must everything suck so badly.

Anne Hathaway famously described this movie as "hideously commercial - gloriously so" and apparently did it as a palate cleanser she did immediately after she got nominated for an Oscar for Rachel Getting Married, a completely different movie about intra-female wedding jealousy

Replying to @arthur_affect @matryoshka_core and
(Rachel Getting Married could also have a sapphic ending if her character and Rachel weren't sisters Not that that's an obstacle on AO3)
