      The other movie I remember having color grading this unsubtle was Traffic, where Mexico was a washed out yellow and Washington DC is a cool blue, while LA was normal colored, even though LA isn't that far from where they were in Mexico

          Honestly I feel like the thing where stuff set in Mexico or "the Middle East" or whatever is filmed so it's washed out and yellow can be fairly described as just racism

          My favorite thing is how you always know where a scene by a beach or a coast line is set because they always orient the camera north, so the atlantic ocean is always on the right side of the screen and the pacific always on the left.

          The Ring (2002) uses has a highly contrasting, but also very varied, color palette. I particularly like how the "real world" investigation is coded in the same sterile blues of Samara's video manifestation, while the cabin and the tree are furious, burning red.
