From a Watsonian POV the reason everyone is talking around it is the relationship was a trick so she could kidnap Seven's adopted son and brutally vivisect him for his cortical node

So Seven understandably finds it a triggering topic

It also struck me less like SHE'S talking "around" her sexuality than she'd been covering up that there was any connection at all because they might've stopped her or known to get in her way. Given that, according to DISCOVERY the new lore seems to be...

..."Oh yeah, no - gay/bi/pan/etc sexuality hasn't been taboo in forever at least back to before TOS - we just coincidentally never displayed or mentioned any of it out loud except on like DS9 once. But trust us, gays EVERYWHERE in space here now. Always. We mean always."

Interestingly someone made a brief video complaining about how Seven's appearance in Picard contradicts a couple key aspects of her character in Voyager For one thing she drinks straight whiskey in Picard with no issues when in Voyager a single glass of champagne knocked her out

The Borg implants in her brain apparently make it much more vulnerable to toxins That said, they specifically said her brain reacts differently to *synthehol*, so perversely she may tolerate real booze much better

The other thing is she's apparently grievously offended when the Doctor is controlling her body and uses it to hit on an alien woman Although that may be less about her not being into girls and more about the, you know, fundamental consent issues

I am just offended that they went for cheap audience feels with the phaser at the start instead of "eh you're beat up and missing an eye and that's bad... but we have space magic bullshit sickbays and you are literally in Starfleet. Let's beam you up son"

It's been established repeatedly that if you've been assimilated too long you can't live without your Borg implants anymore and the Federation doesn't know how to replicate them (which is the whole reason they're a valuable commodity to steal)

That's why they left the implants in in the first place, it's not like at this point Seven or Icheb like being reminded that they're Borg

(For Seven having the Borg implants gave her powers and shit but were also a major liability, both in that the Collective could use them to try to control her again and that there were a lot of Borg survivor species who reacted badly to seeing them)

Ah yeah but they are right there on the tray. It was still a cheap shot by the show for drama's sake
