There will absolutely be a midterm backlash against Sanders - or any Democratic President - no matter what he does and the sheer confidence people have that Sanders getting into the White House will constitute a permanent "political revolution" annoys mehttps://twitter.com/fishingsideques/status/1231451792237445120 …

At least he’s be president when RBG retires and ride that blue wave in a census year. (If he and Dems win of course)

Yeah, RGB will retire and the republican controlled Senate will vote to confirm... Who, now?

Republican controlled Senate is not guaranteed. If Bernie wins the general the Republicans lose Senate or hold onto it by a narrower margin. Also I’m not sure they’d keep her seat vacant for years. At least I hope so. Ya never know. We live in a shitty timeline.

Sanders in the general will absolutely mobilize the GOP. We aren't retaking the Senate.

If Sanders is the nominee, we will lose winnable races in the senate and maybe lose the house.

I'm more optimistic about keeping our hard fought victories, but do I expect that he can win the white house *and* flip the Senate? Absolutely not. But don't tell that to any of his supporters. No, Bernie will get 100 blue Senate seats and pass everything exactly as planned.

Which, of course, isn't even mathematically possible because Senate terms are six years long

And that's to say nothing of all the crony judges that Trump has confirmed that would be constantly challenging any executive action. A White House win without a Senate victory stops the damage, but we're decades from healing it.
