So overall the prequels disappointed people by presenting a poorly acted story with problematic special effects. (And we can still enjoy them, don't get me wrong.)

2. The problems with parts of the sequel trilogy, which were brought to a head by (and could have been at least mostly addressed instead of aggravated by) Rise of Skywalker affect the entire world of Star Wars, and that's much worse

People liked to say back in the day "oh, Darth Vader is ruined because we know he was just a whiny kid," but Vader is demonstrably not ruined. Vader has remained popular and one of the most successful villains in marketing of all time.

Moreover, Clone Wars made people like and believe in Anakin as a tragic figure - as we see from all the people who grew up on Clone Wars (man I'm old) who are ecstatic to see it revived

In other words, the problems were only with the prequel movies themselves. In other hands, everything held together, because George Lucas is a skilled worldbuilder who told a coherent story which I believe based on stuff like my old 1970s copy of the SW novel he had planned

The sequels present a world that ends up making no sense, and I don't just mean in the "where did the infinite Star Destroyers on Exogol" come from, that's pretty easy to solve as that perhaps unfairly bashed tweet shows

But they confirm that space is tiny, everywhere is ten seconds apart, this vast Galaxy is just a bunch of shallow set pieces, and they set up a bunch of characters with SO MUCH potential as ideas - a Force sensitive rogue stormtrooper, a scavenger in-universe fangirl, a Vader fan

And they ended those characters' arcs with... nothing. Nothing of substance. The chances any of the actors will return to fix this is definitely close to nil

I think he saw where things were going with the backstory they retconned in with the spice running etc and did not like it
