Thinking about it, TROS kind of comes eerily close to my wacky idea to do a film festival of "anti-pilots", big series finale episodes to TV shows you just made up The whole thing is based on trying to gaslight you into feeling nostalgia for something you just learned existed

That Dominic Monaghan has always been there as a beloved member of the Rebel HQ, like Mr Poopybutthole

Ugh there's so much of this in the movie Even the little stuff, like retconning Poe's personality so that he's clearly the new Han Solo Making it seem like Luke was actually Rey's father figure

It makes the stuff that actually WAS a moving callback to older movies feel fake because it's lost among all the fake stuff (the X-Wing rising from the water, the binary sunset, "I know")

Spicy take, if the trilogy had been as coherent as you're arguing it should have been then it wouldn't have felt like Star Wars. The original trilogy is all over the shop as well. The Reyveal feels entirely appropriate in the context of "oh yeah Leia's your sister btw"

What did they eat on Exegol? Who built those ships, it would require millions of people. I like to pretend they survived on just add water pancake mix, except they had no water so they had to eat the mix dry. Very sith like.
