It's like when you say you think tipping is a bad practice that should be stopped and they go "Oh well I just won't tip anymore then lol"https://twitter.com/CaseyExplosion/status/1229833347175714818 …

People who don't tip aren't helping to overthrow the system, they're benefiting from it The *whole bad thing* about tipping is that it's for the benefit of assholes who just decide not to tip Not tipping is being the bad person a bad system was intended to benefit

Similarly, people of means who pirate or who otherwise cheat and steal aren't undermining capitalism, they're part of what fundamentally sucks about capitalism

A market economy is a system where you have no direct responsibility for your fellow human beings other than buying their services that you want Cheating them lets you walk out on your social responsibility to other humans while pretending it's just over the price of a game

That's what Marx meant by alienation, how the system sets itself up as a black box so you don't see how every unfair or exploitative action you take is draining the whole apparatus that keeps us all alive, you think it's just about the one transaction over one product

Capitalism is *about the idea* that you should be able to effectively vote "I think Person A's labor is worthless and Person A should have to struggle and starve" just because the stuff Person A makes is easy to steal or exploit

Socialism is about making it so you can't do that (no matter what, no one should struggle and starve and we're all responsible for making that impossible)
