Jonathan McIntosh added,
Genuine head scratching to think of who this could refer to in lotr when the rest seem fairly obvious (hard disagree on mad max tho)
OH duh wow, for some reason my brain blanked on fotr, I was like “Theoden..?”
Boromir had nothing to redeem and would have made a great king. This is a hill I am willing to die on.
He was tempted and he made grabby movements for like 10 seconds. That's enough to earn him a place on the naughty list in my book! (Or rather, in Tolkien's book).
I mean, the Ring made someone instantly kill their best friend for want of it, in the moment Boromir was fully ready to wring his hobbit neck to get it.
I genuinely could write 3000 words on why Boromir deserves to be King over Aragorn
You've got to separate book!Boromir from film!Boromir here, book!Boromir has all these dickish moments where he sneers at how inferior everyone else is to the Men of Gondor, that they cut out of the film so you'd feel worse about his death
