We’re working on a future video essay examining the media pattern wherein men achieve instant redemption through death, instead of struggling through personal transformation. We're including unsuccessful self-sacrifices and unexpected resurrections as well. Suggestions welcome! pic.twitter.com/FjxLiNgtD5

Boromir had nothing to redeem and would have made a great king. This is a hill I am willing to die on.

He was tempted and he made grabby movements for like 10 seconds. That's enough to earn him a place on the naughty list in my book! (Or rather, in Tolkien's book).

I genuinely could write 3000 words on why Boromir deserves to be King over Aragorn

You've got to separate book!Boromir from film!Boromir here, book!Boromir has all these dickish moments where he sneers at how inferior everyone else is to the Men of Gondor, that they cut out of the film so you'd feel worse about his death
