When you first saw Star Wars did you think Luke told Ben that his father wasn't a Jedi but rather "[your answer] on a spice freighter"

Semi-related: there are only three headcanons that fix the inconsistencies between what characters know in ANH and what we saw them experience in the prequels: 1) the prequels never happened, and are some kind of weird propaganda or in-universe fiction

2) Obi-Wan and Vader did lots of drugs between movies and it fried their memories. Yoda is senile. 3) The prequels are a ST:Into Darkness style alternate reality. The timelines re-converge after Empire because reasons.

Well... yeah, but the lies don't really make sense, or advance any kind of agenda. At least he killed your father/he is your father kinda makes sense in protecting Luke. Not recognizing R2D2 and C3P0? Tht's just weird.

The weirdest bit to me is that Luke kept his last name. You'd think there's be at least one of Ani's little friends that still kept in touch with him (to get rid of parking tickets if nothing else) who would hear about a new Skywalker about.

To be slightly fair to Lucas, Anakin grew up in the city of Mos Espah, and the closest town to the Lars homestead is Anchorhead, which is some distance away ("on the other side of Mos Eisley", according to Watto)

So it's quite unlikely any of Anakin's little friends would just show up at Anchorhead while Luke was wasting time with his friends during a trip to pick up power converters Much less pass by the Lars place in the middle of nowhere

Anakin's little friend Greedo is in fact hanging out in the Mos Eisley cantina but it's very clear Luke has never been there before and never expected to in his life It's clearly far enough from Anchorhead he balks when he thinks Ben just wants him to drive him to the spaceport

I figure it's like Watto is from Milwaukee, Cliegg Lars met Shmi when Watto took her on a business trip into Madison, and after Lars bought her freedom and retired he moved to a farm near Richland Center

(Now I'm just wondering why you would name a town "Anchorhead" on a planet with no running water)
