      Well yeah that's just common sense As statisticians say, regression to the mean If a book is actually an all time classic made by a genius then obviously it's going to be hard to make a movie that's also an all time classic made by a genius It's hard to do that no matter what

          The LOTR trilogy and (maybe) The Shining are the only examples I can think of where the adaption and the original are both held up as great classics. Maybe we can hope for Little Women as well
