Maybe they just shouldn't have guns then, since they clearly can't be trusted with them if the only thing stopping them killing people is the fear of getting in trouble for it.

Also, we give law enforcement vast powers that we don't usually give citizens, for very good reasons to protect, defend and serve. The quid pro quo is, or at least should be, high levels of scrutiny and accountability for breaking that trust. Am I missing something?
