It's funny that the 92nd Oscars took both sides on the dub-vs-sub war, giving its biggest awards to a movie that was only released with subs internationally but also having a big tribute to all the dub VAs of Frozen and referring to the original VA as just "American Elsa"

(My take on this is always that both sides have a point Not seeing Parasite because you don't watch subbed movies is stupid But OTOH the argument that only Americans dislike subs is ridiculous - the Anglosphere is the only place people DON'T regularly watch dubs)

All the Marvel movies and shit come out as dubs in China, that's how you typically watch foreign movies, it's not even a question

Also do you expect 6 year olds to read subtitles, which is why it is more expected in animated movies over adult dramas.

Which is kind of ironic, because dubbing animated material (which is already dubbed anyway) is way more justifiable than dubbing live-action footage. I'm one of those unbearable "English only" series watchers, but animated movies I'll gladly take in German.

I think dubbing is really uncommon in North Western Europe too. On the other hand, it's ubiquitous in Spain partly because Franco made it the law

And in some places like Russia they do thing where someone dead pans all the translated dialogue over the original audio which is sorta like audio subtitles rather than dubbing?

Well, also us tiny languages where it just isn't worth it. (Disney/Pixar and other children focused stuff gets dubbed, everything else we get it dubbed. Thankfully we're used to it from tv as well, doesn't bother us one bit.)
