It's funny that the 92nd Oscars took both sides on the dub-vs-sub war, giving its biggest awards to a movie that was only released with subs internationally but also having a big tribute to all the dub VAs of Frozen and referring to the original VA as just "American Elsa"

(My take on this is always that both sides have a point Not seeing Parasite because you don't watch subbed movies is stupid But OTOH the argument that only Americans dislike subs is ridiculous - the Anglosphere is the only place people DON'T regularly watch dubs)

All the Marvel movies and shit come out as dubs in China, that's how you typically watch foreign movies, it's not even a question

well the target audience of frozen II either can't read at all or can't read fast enough make use of subtitles so I think even people who advocate for subs could see why that doesn't work for that movie

Yeah, I'm not sure if this argument applies to animated movies. Miyazaki himself says he doesn't mind his movies being dubbed as it's the visuals are important.

It as nothing to do with sub vs dub stuff Disney just knows who their audience his and most of that audience just can’t read anything or is just starting to get the hang of subtitles
