I loved Little Women, loved the 90’s version too but Taika brought something unique, fresh and wonderful to the screen. He deserves all the good in the world and his unique brand of story telling deserves to be rewarded.

I... don't actually really agree that you need to see the source material to judge Best Adapted Screenplay (would you have to read every Batman comic before judging Joker)

I dunno, my own bias is that the quality of the finished product is what it is Like I disagree with giving Best Editing to Bohemian Rhapsody because they knew what a shitshow production was and how much work the editors had to do, even though the finished product was still bad

I guess my thing is I don't think it's fair to judge this category on that basis Like if there's a really really good screenplay that's a "bad adaptation" in the sense it mostly ignores its source material it shouldn't lose points for that This is the only category it can be in

I'm just saying I've never read the book Jojo Rabbit is based on and I don't think there's anything I could learn by reading it that would make me think it was more or less deserving of the win

Fair enough So in this particular case are you saying Gerwig's Little Women loses points because it's riding the coattails of an extremely popular book?
