Like the WYV piece doesn't address the actual contents of the audio at all, it just speaks in generalities saying victims can be violent in self-defense, even though the audio is a big long discussion of Amber initiating violence and even needling Johnny about *his* self-defense

It is barely possible that there's some kind of complex Svengali thing going on where Johnny has instigated violence just as often as Amber but somehow he's so masterful at controlling her both of them just talk around it constantly in the recording But it's a weak weak case

The idea that because he's calm or he seems to take more time choosing his words that makes him untrustworthy or manipulative is, again, not a road I'm willing to go down It's really really bad "analysis"

Thinking of R. Kelly here and he was over the top emotional. Didn't make him innocent.

I found his subdued voice and his attemp to not anger her made it more believably that he is the victim here

I read the transcript but did not listen to the recording, and I think you’re right. Also: he keeps trying to de-escalate by leaving, calling in a moderator, etc which was likely a good call. It’s a sad situation with what sounds like two people being violent to each other
