Much like with sexual assault prevention training, the whole "you are legally obligated NOT to follow an unlawful order" training is almost entirely performative Because it's obvious that you will ALWAYS be wrong about what is unlawful and ALWAYS be retaliated upon for askinghttps://twitter.com/arthur_affect/status/1226217161816805376 …

There's this mentality that if you're asked to commit a war crime by your NCO then you can just go up the chain of command and prove he broke the law But what'll probably happen is that they'll say you don't know anything about war crimes because you're an uneducated grunt

I didn't really have the heart to tell her that 1) This is a problem with the basic way the brass does things and the coding of the website has no impact on it, 2) I had absolutely no ability to influence how the website was coded

3) I didn't even technically work for that company, I worked for the bullshit startup the owner of the company was skimming the profits off of that let me share an office with that company, but I said I worked for the company because I had no idea what my actual job was

(Yes, in hindsight the stress of having a completely fake job invented by an incompetent boss for unclear reasons is extremely First World Problems but there's a certain unique anxiety that comes with it)
