Ok so Birds of Prey uses brief footage from Suicide Squad, but it's definitely out of continuity with it. What's up with that?

(i say definitely because Huntress is a lady with a crossbow and not some kind of absurd death goddess)

Also, it's really hard for me to not be like "why doesn't Black Canary ask her sister with the time spaceship for help"

This Black Canary is in fact an alternate version of the girl who once boned Oliver Queen while listening to Radioactive, right? I can't see this one doing that

Yes they are indeed separate. Can we talk about the weird trend of Greg Berlanti shows ending their first seasons with sex scenes set to Imagine Dragon songs tho?

Separate or different? How many Lances who are Canaries are there in continuity?

I'm WAAAAYYYYYYYYY behind on all CW-DC stuff, but as far as I know there are two Lances, Laurel who was Black Canary and was dead at some point, and Sara who was technically White Canary but was always just called "The best fucking character in existence."

the whole Sara Lance apotheosis is weird because she was seemingly literally designed to be a throwaway character who represented the material cost of Oliver's selfishness; the first season of Arrow barely mentions her and she's not an adapted character from the comics iirc

Absolutely, 100%. But someone on the Arrow Writing Staff said "What if we made her . . . a sword-wielding bisexual assassin?" And the world was changed forever

Basically all the original Legends came about as accidents of writing and characters they liked but had nothing to do with or got derailed

Yeah and in-universe you find out the Legends exist because they're cosmic misfits who can just be lifted out of the timeline without affecting history

I liked that as a justification for making a show entirely out of second-string characters from other shows. Kind of like if the Time Lords were asked to assemble the Suicide Squad.
