I absolutely think this is the kind of situation you look at and say, “I’m not gonna entertain people engaging in bad faith.” There is no point to arguing with people committed to misunderstanding you.

I don’t care to argue over what Heard said on the tape: Depp’s supporters insist that her words in that conversation prove that she was an abuser, which means she must have been lying about his violence.

Heard has not once denied that she hit Johnny. She has not once denied her own complicity in their toxic relationship. That recording was taken in 2015. A year later, she got a restraining order against him and filed for divorce.

Heard donated part of her $7 million settlement to the ACLU and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She went on to become the ACLU’s embassador for Women’s Rights.https://www.teenvogue.com/story/amber-heard-donated-divorce-settlement …

All I see here is a woman who sees who she’s becoming in a toxic relationship, and decides to use her experience to advocate for positive change and support survivors.

This profile shows that Depp has been going through a lot and obviously needs an intervention. What his stans don’t realize is that Heard actually did them both a huge favor in deciding to put an end to their cycle of abuse before it escalated.https://www.rollingstone.com/movies/movie-features/the-trouble-with-johnny-depp-666010/ …

Abuse is far more complex than Depp stans and tbh, the dominant culture understand. It’s not as simple as “good vs. evil.” But of course, if you don’t recognize someone’s humanity, it’s hard to afford them any nuance.

Depp obviously perpetrated a long-standing pattern of violence against Heard. Heard obviously became violent because that’s what she felt she needed to do to survive in that moment.

Replying to @roslyntalusan @rozzybox

I swear to God I'm not a Depp stan, I've hated the man's acting for years, and I was 100% on her side and thought he was a joke until this recording I *want* someone to resolve the cognitive dissonance by explaining to me how the recording was out of context but no one has
