Nothing happening in Ohio today that could usefully occupy you, Art ? You’re totally wrong to assert that being gay would have destroyed his life. Ridiculous hyperbole. You’d know that if you were British, of course.

Yes, Britain in the 1980s was a haven of gay acceptance and tolerance, Section 28 was just a little misunderstanding that was quickly cleared up, and the only reason a gay man would stay in the closet and get married is his overwhelming desire to oppress a woman

No, go on, tell me about how the UK achieved perfect social justice in the year 1977 and everything since then has just been social justice wackjobs ruining everything to spite you I never get tired of hearing about your absurdly narcissistic worldview

Haha me narcissistic...projecting, much?! PS married in 1992. He presented Saturday morning kids tv then, and was succeeded by a presenting team that included two gay men, both of whom are still on tv regularly and are much loved. Cut the dramarama about ‘destroyed lives’

No, he was a CBBC presenter from 1985 to 1987, at the height of the anti-gay AIDS backlash Section 28 was passed in 1987 and became law in 1988 Thatcher gave a speech about how children were being "cheated from a chance at a normal life" to thunderous applause

Maybe you don't think starting out in that environment would've had the same psychological effect on you but it's still pretty monstrous to judge him for being a liar or a coward for staying closeted

And no, I'm not super familiar with CBBC personalities but comparing him to someone like Andrew Hayden-Smith, who was born in 1983 and who hosted from 2002-2006, is pretty fucking dishonest

Okay so which presenter were you talking about

Specifically, is it a presenter who was active in children's TV between 1988 and 2000, when being gay could've literally gotten them fired
