So I was thinking about Jojo Rabbit, and I think I have a narrative critique. I am not doing a moral critique, because I'm not Jewish and it seems out of my lane given the filmmaker is. But narratively, as charming as the film is, I feel like Jojo gets off easy even for a kid

It is not clear to me that Jojo would have rejected fascism if not for these two things: 1) fascism caused his mom's death 2) he had a huge crush on the personification of fascism's ire in the story, while fascism was represented by a twisted, imaginary old man
