I still don’t understand why flipping a coin is preferable to awarding each candidate a half a delegate (each delegate’s vote would be worth .5 of a vote).

I mean I get what you're saying but sending two people to the convention with each one having to be designated a "half-delegate" with a special pin or something just makes a stupid process even worse
