Ohio is a triple point between the Rust Belt, Appalachia, and the Midwest, at least in my book.

Yeah that's a good way of thinking about it Toledo is hardcore Midwest, Cincy is basically in the South (the airport is in Kentucky), Cleveland still yearns for a time when it was part of the Northeast Columbus is smack in the middle and is a fake planned community

as somebody who grew up and spent most of her life in what you'd call Appalachia, I'd really like to hear somebody from outside that region explain to me the difference between Appalachia and The South™

the big thing to me is that it's really hard to specifically identify The South™ culturally, because like. i spent some time in WV, and it's fairly far north, but it's literally identical to rural TN. furthermore, there are places in Canada that look identical to where I grew up
