I'd nominate the part in season 3 where Rick has become so toxic and destructive that his own family abandons him and holes up from him in terror, showing consequences for his nihilistic behavior Too bad they swiftly and arbitrarily killed that plot to revert to status quo

I mean, yeah, and I think the reveal of "Rick wins and can't be stopped, everything was according to plan" in the S3 premiere was the nadir for the fandom because it so brutally undercut him hitting rock bottom in the S2 finale
