Am I the only person who didn't really like Rise of Skywalker and has endless ideas for how basically every part could be better, but doesn't think Rey Palpatine was the core of the problem? I again want to note that it was clearly foreshadowed in TFA, as one of 3 main possibles

The problem is clearly with how it was revealed - apparently, by Adam Driver shoved in Harry Potter's bedroom with an iPad - and, well *gestures at film*

Honestly I'm now thinking it would have been really cool if the film had left open the possibility that Rey was just being gaslit just like Anakin had been (canonically, Plegeius did NOT conceive him) and maybe she really was nobody, but it doesn't matter

I guess what I'm saying is just that everyone had three theories after TFA, Rey Palpatine was the second most common (after Rey Kenobi) with Rey Nobody being third. So it was all pretty foreshadowed

Am I just weird that (at least through TFA) it seemed a distinct possibility that Luke had gotten lucky at some point in his life and had a kid? The desert origin and story parallels to ANH seemed to make Rey Skywalker (like, actually Luke's daughter) also a real possibility.

That was a common theory but the British accent was a big hole in it

Maybe she had a British-sounding mom. Accents were all over - by all rights Finn and his not-British accent could have been shot by the First Order on sight.

Nah it's a thing for whatever reason that all enlisted stormtroopers have American accents while officers have British ones Boyega says they specifically decided him being a British stormtrooper "wouldn't work"

Funnily enough, Jannah does have a British accent in TRoS, but that was meant to make her origin story a surprise or whatever

Honestly I suspect the driving factor was that Daisy Ridley couldn't actually do a convincing American accent and they decided that since they didn't have enough time to train her they'd just throw in her being British as part of the mystery
