This is what I hate about conservatives making "virtue signaling" into a slur Virtue signaling is VERY IMPORTANT Imperfect as it is, it matters a lot more than just asking you what your values are and expecting you to be honest

You have to have skin in the fucking game Anyone can say they're an ally to trans people when talking directly to trans people and everyone does No one knows where you stand until they see you talking to transphobes Deciding whose friend you are because you can't be everyone's

"What value would there be in Bernie telling off Joe Rogan and throwing away his votes" It would be proof that when he says he cares about trans people he MEANS IT It's a "costly signal", it's him personally giving up something as a sign of loyalty

Sounds good. Except, its a sad truth that most people in US don't care about trans rights. Those that DO care very much are in a minority. And the choice at this point is between a candidate who would shoot transpeople in the streets if he could and a guy who is for their rights.

And I am really, really sick of equating talking with liberal guy who supports 95% leftist policies with "the worst thing ever!" because you disagree with that 5%. And equaling talking with that guy and accepting promotion with allying with his base while excluding everybody els.

I know this is frickin' twitter and loudest, most extreme voices are heard the most and nuanced argument is all but impossible. But this is getting frickin' ridiculous. Acting like a candidate who got promoted by a podcaster suddenly invited transphobes to be his advisers, really?

What really happened: a guy who you agree with 99% was promoted on a podcast of a guy you agree on 95% of the issues. And 99% guy gave a shout out in return to 95% guy. And you all exploded on that 4% difference. And are still talking about it, a week later. Meanwhile...

a guy you agree on 2% of the issues is literally maintaining concentration camps for children, taking away LGBT+ rights, destroying healthcare and environment. And you agree you are being obnoxious about 4% disagreement. And because of that you are ready to let 2% guy win again.

Who is ready to let him win again? I haven't seen one single person say that they'd rather vote for Trump than Bernie because of the Rogan thing. It's still primary season.

Well, why are you raising such an obnoxious stink about it on twitter then?! And not spending your energy on talking about the latest Drumpf policies?!!!Frickin' opportunity costs. Seriously, I'm done with this crap.I gave twitter a try, but if this is twitter, I don't want it.

This is what I meant about "costly signaling" and loyalty tests It means nothing to be against Trump if everyone you know is against Trump and it costs you nothing to hate Trump If I want to test your friendship to me I have to get you to drop one of your actual current friends

I have to make you choose in a context where you actually have something to lose, otherwise it's all just talk and hot air
