The framing of angry gamers as a "working class" demographic is so FUCKING STUPID Like so OBVIOUSLY STUPID I still remember TotalBiscuit's absurd hypothetical about some coal miner who saves $2/week so he can finally afford Call of Duty 11: Modern War Crimes only to be BETRAYEDhttps://twitter.com/BeginJoshua/status/1221831979437563909 …

"All those angry white guys may look like racist misogynists to the untrained eye, but it's only because they were so harmed by political policies... that they supported... because of their racism and misogyny"
-
Basically. "You all have to do what we want because we're mad that the last time you did what we wanted because we were mad, it hurt us."

In fairness, this framing only works when accepting the cover story of them being "a bunch of teenagers into video games." Based on everything I've seen from rallies and arrests, the median age seems more like 26 or so (while still supported by surprisingly well off parents),

with outliers being sitting government officials/guys with desk jobs in law enforcement. And of course we have to account for the not at all insignificant population of actual honest to goodness Putin employees running a few hundred twitter accounts each. They're working class!

The saddest part to me is I can hear TB's voice saying this in my head and it's just indistinguishable from things he actually said.

I am mockingly exaggerating what he actually said but really not by very much
