Restaurants in the UK do have to accommodate allergies. We're asked when placing orders, and can request a binder that lists allergens in the restaurant's menu. Used to be a difference in pre-prepared vs cooked there. Recent tragedy was caused by a baguette in the wrong category.

While not legally binding, I often answer "No allergies: just vegetarian!" in case the server will perk up and go "Oh wait, then you meant the vegetarian version of this dish! Sorry, almost gave you the wrong thing."
