when is it safe to discuss very important Picard spoilers, like how much we're still apparently spraying grapes in the 24th century as an IPM professional it's really important we talk about what the 3-century employment outlook is gonna be

Every aspect of Star Trek has *somebody* wincing about how clueless it is. Mine is "Tea. Earl Grey. Hot."

I have to ask. Have I been drinking my Earl Grey wrong for the last thirty years?

No yeah the temperature thing is a legit objection, like does everything come out lukewarm if you don't specify

Instant headcanon: all replicated foods emerge at your body temperature unless specified, everyone hates this but there's some obtuse engineering reason this is the default

Lol there actually is that scene with a Romulan defector who just asks for a glass of cold water but the computer doesn't know what Romulans consider "cold" and isn't programmed to understand the Romulan units of temperature he uses so they have a whole argument

In that case how does it know "hot" isn't 500 degrees though? I suspect the default temperature is still warm, but the temperature Picard [and most people ordering coffee or tea] prefers at really would be harmful if spilled on himself or if he chugged it instead of sipping.

Yeah that makes sense, that's the whole reason for the McDonald's hot coffee lawsuit and the question of what a "reasonable" serving temperature is
