Judging a candidate's "character" isn't high school gossip time wasting, it's a basic requirement for anyone who understands candidates don't wave a magic want and make their whole platform come true the instant they're elected

It's easy to be all things to all people on paper, and most candidates do The only way to predict what they will actually do once they have to make hard choices is to look at how they ACT, look at what they actually treat as important during the election, who they listen to

People like to talk shit about "virtue signaling" Well, none of these people have been president before, I can't read any of their minds, and none of them are my close personal friend "Signaling" is all we've got That's what it's for

People talk about "guilt by association" as a logical fallacy and shit Well out here in the real world outside of college debate, judging what kind of person you are by the company you keep is imperfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than just asking you if you're a good guy

People talk about "judging a candidate by his supporters" as though we were talking about movies or ice cream flavors - "You wouldn't let bros ruin chocolate for you" Well we're talking about a fucking person, who exists in a social context making social decisions

It is absolutely one of the only things available for me to judge what kind of person you are - who seems to like you and who seems to hate you, who you try to attract and who you're willing to push away

Apparently because Bernie says abortion will be covered under M4A, I am ridiculous for worrying that he would use it as a bargaining chip.

We all know that the blessed saint will achieve all of his goals via magically channeling “the movement” and so we should never express any concerns. (I don’t even dislike Bernie- prefer Warren, since Bernie keeps appointing shitty people, but divine Claudius I hate his zealots)

Thank you. "Character" used to be a major factor in judging candidates and should still be at the top of everyone's list. I've always voted Blue and wasn't for McCain, but would have voted for him over Trump in an instant based on character alone.

We Ds need to apply this same test to our current roster of candidates.
